John Cullen is a commercial director and photographer based in Toronto and Los Angeles. Over the last seven years, John has worked extensively in Newfoundland documenting the people and landscapes crucial to the wild food movement in the province.
The images in this series give a broader context for Wildness, an Ode to Newfoundland and Labrador, chef Jeremy Charles’ first monograph published by Phaidon. The book was photographed over a period of 30 months and involved numerous trips to remote parts of the province. Charles draws upon these environments as inspiration for his two restaurants, Raymonds and the Merchant Tavern.
A veteran of the editorial photography world, John’s work has been published and awarded across North America and Europe.
