Each day is spent exploring, and scanning my environment for inspiration, which comes in many forms, textures and colours. These precious found places and situations are usually ground textures discovered in and around the city of St. John’s. I am interested in exploring a world that often goes unnoticed, stepped over or passed by: A simple crack in the sidewalk, rubble on a walking path, or ice and snow covering plant life and rocks. My drawings are abstractions of this reality and reflect the stillness and calmness I find in these spaces. I work with rhythm and pattern to achieve this calmness in my work.
