Jim Maunder Born: St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada Resides: St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada “I come from a family of artists and naturalists and a province, Newfoundland and Labrador, which traditionally relied on natural resources for its survival. Most of my bronze or mixed media sculptures address global environmental concerns in a local context. My recent works - organic forms made from industrial materials such as steel, copper, and concrete - explore ethical and environmental dilemmas posed by bioengineering. I pay close attention to aesthetic elements such as composition, colour and surface. Using metaphor and, sometimes, humour, I create works that I hope are visually compelling and which subtly offer questions, rather than answers.” – Jim Maunder, 2006 Click here for Artist Bio (Acrobat Reader required)
